A Brief Overview
In this position, you will provide leadership and direct day-to-day supervision of staff on a high-acuity cardiac intensive care unit. Responsible for ensuring delivery of safe, efficient, cost-effective, age-specific nursing care. Responsible for and deploys unit strategies designed to meet defined unit and CHOP clinical, financial and quality initiatives and associated performance and outcome targets. This position is 20% clinical and 80% administrative.
What you will do
- Financial Stewardship: Executes and monitors systems to assure consistent and appropriate resource assignment and utilization. Maintains budgeted cost per unit of service. Partners with nurse manager on quality improvement initiatives impacting quality, cost, and resource utilization. Ensures efficient and cost-effective utilization of hospital resources for operations, clinical programming, and education.
- Clinical Excellence: Implements evidence-based practice and professional standards. Ensures regulatory compliance. Partners to improve care outcomes and patient/family experience. Coordinates patient care planning. Ensures staff compliance to promote quality and efficiency. Manages nursing-sensitive indicator metrics and patient care resources. Identifies improvement opportunities and develops action plans.
- Professional Engagement: Coaches unit nursing leaders in management strategies. Manages staff performance with coaching and appraisals. Collaborates with care teams for system improvements and staff engagement. Creates innovative staff recognition programs. Develops succession planning. Supports Shared Governance structure. Fosters high employment engagement. Leads population-based outcome efforts through practice, education, research, and consultation.
- Advancing Practice: Encourages staff to practice to full licensure. Develops systems to assure appropriate patient management resources. Supports employee development goals. Leads system improvements backed by evidence-based practice and outcome metrics.
- Innovation and Learning: Supports evidence-based practice planning and educational projects. Promotes research ideas. Supports staff assignments accommodating clinical experiences and student rotations.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - Required
Experience Qualifications
- Experience in human relations, human and material resource management - Required
- Experience providing clinical and administrative nursing leadership - Required
- At least one year of progressive leadership experience - Required
