About the Team
GSMA Mobile for Development (M4D)Foundationis a dedicated global team within the GSMA,bringingtogether our mobile operator members, tech innovators, the development community and governments, to realise the impact of mobile in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
This role sits within theM4D Digital Inclusion & Gender Team,which includes theConnected Women and Connected Society programmes.
GSMA’s Connected Women programme works with mobile operators and their partners to address the barriers to women accessing and using mobile internet and mobile money services www.gsma.com/connectedwomen.
GSMA’s Connected Society Programme works with the mobile industry and key stakeholders to increase access to and adoption of the mobile internet, focusing on underserved population groups in developing markets www.gsma.com/connectedsociety
The programmes are funded by the FCDO (UK), Sida (Sweden), and are supported by the GSMA and its members.Additionalresearch and workisalso funded by the Gates Foundation.
About the role
The Assistant Operations Manager role will be an exciting opportunityfor an individual with a passion forinternational development and the role of digitalinnovation indrivingsocio-economic impact for the underserved.
Youwill be working across the Connected Womenprogrammeas part of theDigital Inclusion & GenderOperations teamincludingsupporting a project focused on improving affordability andadoptionof internet-enabled handsets for womentosupport their livelihoods.
Thisroleis critical to theoverallsuccess of theConnected Women programmeandreportsdirectlyto theConnected WomenOperations Manager who leadsoperationsacross delivery, reporting (including donor reporting) and business planning, as part of the wider DigitalInclusion&GenderOperationsteam.In this role you will also work withvariousProjectLeads and Directors,subject matter experts, compliance/finance, legal, HR and marketing teams, as well as the wider M4D team.
As an Assistant Operations Manager, you willbe responsible forthe following:
Assist the Operations Managerstotrack and report on deliverables and KPIs
Supportthe preparation ofmonthlyinternalprogrammereports,as well asquarterly and annualexternaldonorreporting
Maintainprogrammerisk, issue and lessons learned logs,ensuringtimelyescalation whererequired
Assistwithprogrammeactivityplanningandtrackprogrammeworkplans
Leadend-to-end procurementprocessesincludingsupplieronboarding,contracting, purchase orderand invoice management, in collaborationwith the Finance team
Coordinateeventplanning andlogistics,includingsourcingand bookingvenuesand liaising withprogrammeteams and marketing
Managebudget forecasts
Support all aspectsof teamtravel
Maintainorganised,shared filing systemsi.e.SharePoint
Any other dutiescommensuratewith level as requested by the Operations Manager
About You
The ideal candidate willdemonstratethe following skills andexperience:
Demonstrable operationsand projectmanagement experience,ideallywithindonor-funded projects
Strongorganisationalandplanningskills,with ability to manage multiplepriorities acrossdifferentprogrammes
Experiencesupportingbudgeting,forecastingandfinancial processes
Proventrack recordtracking and reportingonprojectactivities
Strongstakeholder managementskills, includingthe ability to work effectivelyacross teams and manage upwards
Flexibility torespond tochanging requirementsand priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of a team, supporting other team members in a busy global environment, across several different geographical locations
Excellent attention to detail
ProficiencyusingMS Office(i.e.Word,Excel,PowerPoint, Teams) andexperience withprojectorgrant managementsystems
An interest in international development and/or social enterprises in emerging markets
