The opportunity
Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.
Nearly half of our white-collar workforce comprises employees in engineering and scientific fields. Internally, we have targeted talent development programs for employees at different stages of their career development to build skills and competencies, foster training, support people to own career development, scale up organization for growth and execution.
How you’ll make an impact
1. You will be responsible for creating and improving analytical tools and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) automations for thermo-fluid dynamic analysis in electrical machines such as transformers and reactors.
2. You will propose and provide technical solutions for a variety of transformers and reactors, ensuring that they meet the required standards and performance expectations.
3. You will actively participate in the creation, updating, and maintenance of technical standards that dictate the management of thermo-mechanical performance of various transformers, including dry, liquid-filled, and traction distribution transformers.
4. You will work within the GLOMUS network, collaborating with other simulation teams to deliver comprehensive multi-physic finite element methodologies and automations for coupled electromagnetic, structural, and fluid-dynamic problems.
5. You will design and conduct experimental campaigns to validate the technical solutions and numerical models you or the team propose.
6. You will provide timely and effective support to factories facing technical challenges and facilitate the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to the engineering department through the creation of design rules, training materials, and collaboration with design tools teams.
7. You will carry out CFD simulations for cooling systems in all types of transformers, run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products, and simulate their expected performances to contribute to technology development projects.
8. You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
9. Living Hitachi Energy’s core values safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Your background
1. You hold a PhD or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field, with a strong focus on heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
2. Strong hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and thermo-mechanical simulations, applied to complex industrial systems such as transformers or similar thermal-fluid equipment. Advanced proficiency in numerical methods for thermodynamic and heat transfer simulations, including conjugate heat transfer, turbulence modelling, and transient analyses.
3. Practical experience with industry-standard tools such as ANSYS CFX/FLUENT, OpenFOAM, COMSOL and StarCCM+, with demonstrated ability to customize models for internal oil flows, cooling ducts, and heat exchangers. Solid knowledge of programming and scripting for model development, automation, and post-processing, including MATLAB, Python, and Visual Basic.
