Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees pharmaceutical care, including retrieving and evaluating biomedical literature and designing medication therapy regimens
- Uses effective patient education techniques to provide counseling to patients and caregivers about medication therapy, adverse effects, compliance, appropriate use, handling, and administration
- Designs, recommends, monitors, and evaluates patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens and documents appropriately
- Reviews and interprets medication orders and prescriptions accurately
- Participates in the management of medical emergencies when applicable
- Supports medication safety and quality improvement activities
- Performs quality assurance and performance improvement of the medication use system
- Collaborates with healthcare team to manage formulary adherence and medication-use processes
- Practices compliance with organizational policies, local, state, and federal regulations
- Prepares, dispenses, and oversees proper storage and handling of medications
- Serves as preceptor for pharmacy students, residents, and healthcare learners
- Mentors, trains, and evaluates pharmacy teammates, residents, and students
- Directs and checks the accuracy of pharmacy support team members' work
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for patient age groups served
Licensure/Certification:
- Licensed in state(s) of practice or eligible for reciprocity
- Immunization and non-vaccine injectable certification as required
- Credentialing and privileging based on area of practice
Education:
Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in pharmacy from ACPE-accredited school or FPGEC certificate
Experience: No experience required
Skills: Strong computer, communication, organization, presentation, decision-making, team building, customer service, conflict resolution skills
Physical Requirements: Considerable walking, standing, lifting, exposure to varying conditions, ability to perform manipulative skills like typing and data entry
Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours/week, 2 weekdays 9-6, alternating weekends 9-1, occasional holidays
Pay Range: $53.80 - $80.70 per hour
