General Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services according to their assessment and care plan, as directed by supervisors.
Essential Duties
- Identify residents before administering treatments or serving meals using wristbands or photo cards.
- Record information using authorized abbreviations only.
- Report all changes in residents' condition promptly to Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Document all entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts descriptively.
- Report accidents and incidents occurring during shift.
- Maintain confidentiality of residents' protected health information and report violations.
- Perform only trained nursing care procedures.
- Prepare residents' rooms and greet residents appropriately.
- Assist with personal belongings, transfers, and transport as necessary.
- Create a warm and calm environment for residents.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to identify and improve service areas.
- Comply with policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids and other hazards.
- Assist residents with daily functions such as hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
- Observe and report pressure areas, injuries, and changes in residents' conditions.
- Utilize equipment properly and report defects.
- Handle resident complaints and grievances professionally.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Minimum 10th grade education. Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant according to state laws. CPR certification preferred.
Strong language, mathematical, and reasoning skills required.
Physical Demands
Must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use office equipment. May assist in resident evacuation during emergencies.
Work Environment
Noise level usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
