Responsibilities
- Lead the safety culture transformation by creating, driving and implementing best-in-class programs, practices, solutions, and tools designed to foster a culture of engagement, commitment and visible leadership.
- Visible field leadership in the facilities connecting and coaching with front line teams and supervision.
- Provide oversight and direction to a team of direct reports, supporting them in the successful delivery of their safety business plan deliverables and overseeing project delivery, workload prioritization, performance, and professional development needs.
- Assist in the preparation of Safe Work Business Plans that include site specific safety objectives; monitor the performance of the Safe Work Business Plans, report on KPI targets and provide feedback on corrective actions.
- Support site-level initiatives to drive safety improvements through collaboration and sharing best practice, learning and benchmarking.
Requirements
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and/or complementary degree and certifications with associated heavy industrial manufacturing experience.
- 10+ years of progressive management responsibilities.
- 5+ years of demonstrated leadership/managing direct reports experience.
- Related Professional Certification (e.g. CRSP).
- Knowledgeable about human performance, cultural transformation, and effective programs to build a strong safety culture.
- Proven ability to drive improvements in safety culture, safety climate and performance.
- Strong ability to work with interdepartmental teams at all levels of management to accomplish tasks, building solid working relationships with front line workers, union and management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a matrix organization, overseeing project delivery, workload prioritization, performance, and professional development.
- Ability to independently assess the functional performance of a safety management system, develop and assist in the implementation of gap closure plans.
- Excellent knowledge of Federal, Provincial, health and safety regulations.
- Experience in applying root cause problem solving methods.
- Experience in budget management.
- Ability to travel 50%+, including overnight and day travel.
