Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Electrical Design Engineers are core to KLA's technology. Although there is no current opening, KLA is building its Electrical Engineering talent community and welcomes applicants for future opportunities. The position involves leading the design, detailing, and testing of new electrical sub-systems for next-generation KLA tools.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical parts, modules, and subsystems for complete measurement systems.
- Lead the design process from specification to cost and scheduling analysis.
- Conduct circuit, timing, thermal/cooling, and electrical loading analyses.
- Perform thermal/cooling control and PLC programming.
- Create conceptual and detailed designs including AutoCAD drawings and presentations.
- Procure prototype parts, test assemblies, integrate systems, and hand off to manufacturing.
- Develop supporting documentation like assembly instructions and service manuals.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, systems, and manufacturing engineering groups.
- Partner with suppliers to ensure design requirements and lifecycle product issues are addressed.
Qualifications
- High-power design experience (>200V, >100A), preferably AC.
- Experience in 3-phase circuit design.
- PLC programming skills (Siemens, Allen Bradley).
- Knowledge of communication protocols (Fieldbus, CAN).
- Understanding of controls, thermal modeling, safety circuits, PID tuning.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW.
- Proficient in AutoCAD; OrCAD or CREO is a plus.
- Hands-on diagnostic experience with complex electrical subsystems.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Intrinsic Safety design expertise is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate degree with 0 years experience; or Master's degree with 3 years experience; or Bachelor's degree with 5 years related experience.
Compensation and Benefits: Base pay range $91,900 - $156,200. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) matching, employee stock purchase program, tuition reimbursement, and more.
