The Employee Relations Manager is a key partner collaborating with HR Business Partners to advise leaders on matters of performance, conflict, conduct, and discipline. The ER Manager works to maintain positive employee relationships while ensuring compliance with the law, facilitating prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflicts, and addressing issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with Genworths Mission, Vision, policies, practices, and overall business strategy.
What you will be doing
- Serves as primary contact for employee relations matters, supporting managers on performance management, discipline, policy interpretation, and termination.
- Conducts complex workplace investigations and provides resolution recommendations.
- Establishes effective working relationships with employees and management, using de-escalation skills and providing verbal and written recommendations.
- Advises leadership on employee relations issues, reducing company risk and improving team member experience.
- Consults with management on performance improvement plans and corrective actions.
- Partners with internal Legal counsel and external Employment counsel when necessary.
- Tracks employee data and metrics to define process improvements.
- May travel 2-3 days per quarter, occasionally overnight.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Human Development, Psychology, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years experience managing complex employee relations in multi-state environments; 3 years in HR Business Partner or Generalist role.
- HR certification (SHRM/HRCI/CERP).
- Deep understanding of State and Federal US employment law including Title VII, ADA, FMLA.
- Skilled in investigations, negotiation, conflict management, and employee relations procedures.
- Experience with remote/hybrid work environment investigations.
- Effective communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
