About the Role:
Reporting to Chair of the Department of Visual Arts, the Gallery Coordinator oversees the planning, coordination, installation, and delivery of exhibitions and related programming for the Department of Visual Arts’ Visual Arts Gallery. Serving as both an administrative and curatorial resource, the role supports the gallery’s function as a hub for teaching and learning, professional development, and community connection aligned with the academic mission of the Department of Visual Arts.
The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the gallery, including exhibition and event coordination, communications, outreach initiatives, and administrative processes. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, visiting artists, curators and scholars, university partners, and community organizations, the incumbent facilitates the development and delivery of exhibitions and programming that fosters creative research, experiential and interdisciplinary learning, curatorial and professional practice opportunities for students, and community connection.
The role supervises student assistants and contract preparators, assists with budget tracking, and supports promotional activities through exhibition materials, website content, social media, and related communications. This position also coordinates technical and facilities support for gallery activities through appropriate roles.
