This position is for a Senior Generalist Technical Artist at Elsewhere Entertainment, available in Malm/Sweden or Warsaw/Poland, with an on-site hybrid work model, and remote work from home (Europe) possible for highly experienced candidates with a proven remote work track record.
The role involves collaborating with a team of skilled developers to develop a new IP with a focus on creativity and innovation. Responsibilities include supporting and improving content creation tools and workflows across various art disciplines, collaborating with artists and engineers to deliver innovative solutions, maintaining and enhancing aspects of technical asset production such as reuse, content density, performance, and storage, as well as anticipating challenges and implementing preventive solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and improve content creation tools and workflows including shaders, materials, rigging, animation, texturing, visual effects, lighting, and UI.
- Collaborate with artists and engineers to develop innovative solutions for visual content development.
- Maintain and improve technical asset production focusing on reuse, performance, and storage/memory requirements.
- Anticipate challenges and risks and implement innovative and preventative solutions.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional experience in the games industry in technical art or related areas.
- Experience developing tools and pipelines for game content production.
- Experience with DCC tools such as Maya and Blender.
- Comprehensive understanding of scripting languages including Python, JavaScript, and VEX.
- In-depth knowledge of memory and performance impact from content creation perspective.
- Experience writing and debugging shaders.
- Understanding of Physically Based Rendering systems and techniques.
- In-depth understanding of game engines, pipelines, and processes.
- Creativity in problem solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and capability to meet timelines.
Bonus Points:
- Experience working on AAA titles, especially high visual fidelity and/or large content variety games.
- Proven leadership or managerial experience.
- Knowledge of Niagara (Unreal) or VFX Graph (Unity).
- Experience with Houdini or other procedural or simulation software.
- Experience with machine learning.
- Experience with OpenUSD, MaterialX, and similar technologies.
- Experience working with consoles.
- Enjoyment of playing a variety of video game genres and titles.
