Job Description:

Make a meaningful start to your Social Work career in Mental Health by joining the values-driven Allied Health Graduate Program at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne. This 24-month fixed-term graduate program provides structured rotations across inpatient, community, and residential recovery services to build core mental health competencies. Graduates will receive dedicated supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities designed for early-career Social Workers to confidently advance their careers. The role involves working as part of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams delivering person-centred and recovery-oriented care. The program supports reflective practice and involves guidance from Social Work Clinical Educators and the Allied Health Early Careers Team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete rotations across adult and older adult mental health services, including inpatient units, community teams, and residential recovery settings.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to provide person-centred mental health care.
• Engage in reflective practice, professional development, mentoring, and regular supervision.
• Adhere to relevant mental health legislation and frameworks including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.

Key Requirements:

• Completed a Bachelor or Masters in Social Work within the past 24 months and available to commence by 17 November 2025.
• Eligible for AASW membership or if qualified overseas, provide International Qualification Assessment via AASW.
• Hold a current Victorian drivers licence.
• Strong interest in public mental health practice, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Commitment to professional development, reflective practice, and a growth mindset.
• Computer literacy.

About St Vincents Mental Health:

The service provides inpatient, residential, and community-based programs for adults and older adults with acute and complex mental health issues within the City of Yarra and City of Boroondara.
