POSITION SUMMARY: The Operator Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, loading and/or compacting waste or soil in an efficient and safe manner.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment following company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors, and rear view camera are clean.
- Safely operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and others using proper safety standards.
- Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and monitor equipment condition to ensure operational readiness.
- Clean equipment tracks or wheels as needed and perform minor service; report complex mechanical issues to Maintenance Shop.
- Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary documentation; report repairs to supervisor.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures and ensure the shop is clean and serviced at shift completion.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Two years prior experience in heavy equipment operation.
- One year experience working at OSHA-regulated sites.
