What you will do
As a Controls Project Manager for our HVAC division, you will under general direction, act as the on-site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers.
- Must have: HVAC Controls Knowledge, Customer Communication experience, Organizational skills, proven ability to lead projects.
- Perform or delegate tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning and project closeout.
- Provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary.
- Responsible for overall financial results of assigned projects including costs, project billings, and collections.
- Maintain an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results.
- Coordinate communication with the customer during all phases, actively pursue selling change orders.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and high ethical standards on the job.
How you will do it
- Complete installation hardware design and software programming as needed; validate system functionality and resolve issues; provide accurate documentation.
- Evaluate contract scope, impact of directives or scheduling changes; communicate technical and business issues with clients; pursue change orders.
- Lead loading, device verification, and commissioning of system controllers as needed.
- Provide job site coordination for panel and device locations; ensure installation meets requirements.
- Communicate project status to management and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and margin.
- Develop project plans and coordinate resources for accurate and cost-effective project completion.
- Perform site-specific training for owner/operators; provide system operation documentation and manuals.
- Send warranty letters and ensure proper warranty execution.
- Provide detailed design and operation communication to customers, staff, and subcontractors.
- Coach, mentor, and assist technicians, installers, designers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure tasks are done accurately, on-time, billed, within budget, and contract scope.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, subcontractors.
- Attend job progress meetings as required.
- Adhere to and enforce safety standards for staff and subcontractors.
- Manage materials selection, ordering, budget, and delivery schedule for projects.
- Secure pricing and availability from vendors and subcontractors; request multiple bids as needed.
- Handle costs, billings, collections; maintain profitability and cash flow.
- Manage subcontractor payment and billing processes.
What we look for
Required
- Technical associate's degree with 4 years field experience or 6 years equivalent related field experience in HVAC/Building Automation industry.
- Relevant technical hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC/Building Automation controls systems.
- HVAC Controls Knowledge, Customer Communication, Organizational skills, Ability to lead projects.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills; communicate technical material to non-technical audience.
- Ability to perform work independently.
- Computer proficiency in Windows, Excel, and other software.
- Knowledge of control theory and HVAC/Building Automation systems.
- Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent and 6 years field experience in the HVAC industry.
- Experience preparing reports for upper management regarding project status.
- High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $82,000 - $102,000 (Salary determined by applicant education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, location, and market data.) Competitive Bonus plan and benefits package offered. For details, visit Johnson Controls Careers site.
