The Litigation Support Team at Leidos currently supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC has an opening for a Law Clerk II to perform litigation support duties. This role provides an opportunity to assist the DOJ by providing innovative and efficient litigation support solutions.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Perform complex legal research under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal or Project Manager.
- Prepare draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
- Review documents for relevance and privilege.
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.
- Act independently or as a team leader on larger projects, serving as primary interface with attorneys, experts, and client staff.
- Assist in drafting Programs decisions foundational for administrative and judicial review.
- Discern relevant issues in complex fact patterns.
Basic Qualifications:
- Law degree or at least two years in an ABA-accredited law school, or equivalent legal training or education.
- 2+ years progressively responsible experience in litigation support projects.
- Working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and research tools including LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Familiarity with computer applications, electronic discovery (ESI) tools, and legal databases.
- Excellent written, oral communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to deliver quality work under high pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Government or litigation support environment experience.
- Experience with Relativity eDiscovery software and trial experience.
- Interest or experience with informal adjudications under agency rules.
- Experience handling large case volumes and current/active clearance.
Compensation: $46.90 per hour.
