Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Atrium Health Levine Children's Shelby Pediatrics
Employment Type: Full Time
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 08:30 - 17:30 with occasional weekends
Essential Functions:
- Provide necessary patient care and arrange appropriate care according to nursing practice and specialty requirements.
- Document patient care and interactions accurately in medical records.
- Participate in telephone triage, obtain clinical data, advise and instruct patients as per protocols or provider orders.
- Track ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests and present results to provider.
- Pre-visit planning with provider and care team.
- Administer medications and injections.
- Check vital signs including height and weight.
- Assist with reviewing medication history and update medication list.
- Assist with health maintenance requirements.
- Assist providers during procedures and clean instruments and room.
- Adhere to safety and regulatory standards including OSHA, CLIA, TJC.
- Report patient conditions and reactions to providers following treatments or procedures.
- Assist with patient inquiries such as prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization.
- Document electronic care per provider instruction.
- Enter orders in EMR as authorized.
- Perform CLIA waived lab tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing including Point of Care testing; perform quality control and maintenance.
- Perform venipuncture and assist with specimen collections.
- Provide patients with visit summaries at the end of appointments.
- Manage vaccine and pharmaceutical orders complying with state immunization registry regulations and monitor clinical supply inventories.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support up to 35 pounds, possible exposure to communicable diseases. Requires intact senses and manual dexterity.
Education, Experience and Certifications:
- Licensed Practical Nurse with current state license.
- Graduate of accredited practical nursing school.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
- BLS certification required.
