
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
This position involves administrative functions, charting and documentation, drug administration, personnel management, nursing care functions, staff development, safety and sanitation compliance, equipment and supply management, care plan and assessment functions, budget and planning functions, and miscellaneous duties as required. Duties include directing nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with policies, completing records and reports, administering medications, supervising nursing staff, providing direct nursing care, participating in training and education, maintaining safety and sanitation, and more.
Delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties.
Education and/or Experience: Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program. Must hold a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/LVN in this state.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; comprehend technical procedures, policy manuals, and effectively communicate.
Mathematical Skills: Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions.
Reasoning Ability: Knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care; decision making; interpersonal skills.
Certificates: Current CPR certification; maintain required continuing education/licensing; must remain in good standing with State Board of Nursing.
Must be able to move intermittently, communicate effectively in English, cope with mental and emotional stress, have adequate sensory capabilities, work independently with flexibility, and meet health requirements. Must be able to lift or move a minimum of 25 pounds as required.
Work occurs in office and nursing service areas including drug rooms, nurses stations, resident rooms. Job involves frequent interruptions, interaction with residents, personnel, visitors, and government personnel. Exposure to potential hazards such as infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, hostile individuals. Attendance at continuing education programs required. Subject to emergency call back.
