
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Administrative Functions include directing nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, participating in quality assurance, handling reports, and maintaining documentation.
Charting and Documentation includes completing admission, transfer, discharge records, transcribing physicians' orders, and recording nursing notes.
Drug Administration Functions includes preparing and administering medications, verifying identities, ordering supplies, and maintaining narcotic records.
Personnel Functions include staff performance evaluations, staffing needs, daily rounds, staff supervision and training.
Nursing Care Functions involve resident admissions, collaborating with physicians, administering direct care, emergency notifications, and overseeing treatments.
Staff Development involves planning and conducting in-service training and orientation programs.
Safety and Sanitation covers monitoring safety practices, infection control, clean work areas, and emergency preparedness.
Equipment and Supply Functions include recommending and ensuring adequate supplies and safe use of nursing equipment.
Care Plan and Assessment Functions include reviewing and updating care plans, ensuring CNAs are informed, and assisting in assessments.
Budget and Planning Functions includes reporting suspected fraud.
Miscellaneous provide data to the Quality Assurance & Assessment Committee as requested.
Delegated administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for assigned duties.
Education and/or Experience: Nursing degree or approved LPN/LVN program graduate, current active license to practice as LPN/LVN.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, understand English, read technical manuals, present information.
Mathematical Skills: Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions.
Reasoning Ability: Knowledge to provide age-appropriate care, teamwork, independent decisions, tactful communication, knowledge of nursing/medical practices, leadership ability.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current LPN/LVN license, CPR certification, knowledge of PCC preferred, maintain continuing education.
Ability to move intermittently, speak/write English, cope with mental/emotional stress, see and hear adequately, work independently, lift/move at least 25 pounds, assist in emergency evacuations.
Work involves office and nursing service areas, frequent interruptions, interaction with residents, staff, visitors, medical personnel, potential exposure to hazards and infectious materials, requires participation in continuing education, subject to call back during emergencies.
