Job Summary
The Master Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the master production schedule, ensuring alignment between customer demand, production capacity, and material availability to meet operational and financial objectives. This role will optimize inventory levels and support efficient manufacturing processes.
Job Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain a rolling 12-18 month master production schedule (MPS) for assigned product lines, incorporating customer forecasts, sales orders, and inventory targets.
Analyze demand patterns, sales trends, and forecast accuracy to refine the MPS and identify potential supply chain risks or opportunities.
Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations to reconcile demand and supply, proactively addressing constraints and developing mitigation plans.
Conduct capacity planning, utilizing manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems to ensure sufficient labor, equipment, and facility capacity to meet the MPS.
Manage inventory levels, including safety stock and obsolescence, to achieve desired service levels while minimizing carrying costs.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule adherence, forecast accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory turns.
Lead or participate in S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) meetings, presenting MPS updates, identifying issues, and driving consensus on production plans.
Work closely with procurement and materials management to ensure timely availability of components and raw materials.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in planning processes and tools.
Support new product introductions (NPIs) by developing initial production plans and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in master planning, production planning, or supply chain planning within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (SAP experience highly preferred).
Proven ability to develop and manage complex master production schedules.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
