In order to support the Airframe Architecture Department, Airbus Operations is looking for a Masterand (student) to conduct a master thesis titled "Development of a sliding cargo door for the main deck of a freighter aircraft". The thesis aims to develop the preliminary design concept of a sliding door for aviation applications, particularly for the main deck of a freighter aircraft, considering the A350 Freighter as the reference baseline but scalable to smaller aircraft. The project involves investigating existing sliding door concepts in various transportation modes, downselecting promising concepts, applying design to value methodology, detailed 3D modeling in CATIA, and sizing by simple stress analysis methods to prove feasibility regarding weight, cost, manufacturability, and other relevant factors. The focus is on the sliding door and its integration into the aircraft fuselage, especially elements needed for sliding, while reusing or modifying existing structures like door contours and latch & lock systems.
You will work at Airbus' largest civil aircraft production site in Hamburg, Germany, offering a vibrant international environment.
Application requires cover letter, CV, transcripts, and enrollment certificate.
