Major Responsibilities:
- Prepare and room patients for exam by obtaining vital signs and updating pertinent health information.
- Perform laboratory procedures using aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines.
- Assist Physician/Advanced Practice Clinician with clinical procedures.
- Administer routine medications under approved orders or protocols.
- Follow through with procedures, test requests, care algorithms, appointments, and referrals.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team and patients to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Perform clinical support tasks such as suture removal, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, and prescription refills under supervision.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to patient age-specific care requirements.
Licensure or Certifications:
- LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse license in practicing state and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Degrees Required:
- GED or High School Equivalency Diploma.
- LPN: Completion of accredited Practical Nursing program.
- MA: Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of full-time experience.
Experience Required: Preferred experienced MA/LPN candidate.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Ability to perform routine and complex medical assistant duties after competency demonstration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records.
- Strong customer service skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Physical ability to sit, stand, lift up to 35 pounds, bend, twist, and reach.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids hazards; requires protective equipment.
Work Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday with varied hours based on clinic needs from 6:45am to 5:45pm.
