Major Responsibilities:
- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting pertinent health information such as chief complaint, allergies, and medications. Monitors and completes Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures with notification to clinician for opportunities within their scope.
- Performs laboratory procedures like strep tests, wound cultures, and specimen collection using aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
- Assists Physicians/Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC) with procedures including pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, and colposcopy.
- Administers routine medications under Physician/APC orders or approved standing orders/protocols including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
- Follows through with procedure or test requests, pre-approved care algorithms, new appointments, and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to Registered Nurses and Physician/APC per scope of practice, relaying information back to patients as directed.
- Communicates with healthcare team to ensure smooth clinic flow and adjusts as necessary, providing accurate and timely information to patients.
- Performs basic and advanced clinical support tasks such as suture removal, laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, and prescription refills under clinical supervision.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, assessing patient data relative to growth and development over the lifespan in adherence to departmental policies.
Licensure or Certifications:
- LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by state and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required within 45 days of hire unless determined otherwise.
- MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA required within 45 days of hire unless determined otherwise.
Degrees:
- GED or High School Equivalency Diploma required.
- LPN: Completion of an accredited or approved Practical Nursing program.
- MA: Completion of accredited or approved Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as MA within last 5 years.
Experience Required: Experienced MA/LPN candidate preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within MA scope after demonstrated competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, team members, and physicians.
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation in Windows OS, electronic mail, and familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Strong customer service skills to support positive patient experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must frequently sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance; patient handling equipment used for heavier lifts when available.
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and fine-hand manipulation skills required.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical hazards, blood and body fluids; protective clothing and equipment provided as necessary.
- Operates all equipment necessary for performing job duties.

Schedule Details: Internal Float Position covering Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics as needed. Varied hours Monday to Friday, 6:45am to 5:45pm based on clinic needs and provider assignment.
Compensation: Pay range from $21.45 to $35.50 per hour based on qualifications, skills, experience, and training. $21.45-$32.20 for Medical Assistant, $23.65-$35.50 for LPN.
