
About the Role
TheOccupational Therapistis responsibletoprovidecomprehensive psychiatric assessment, treatment, and case management to older adults in community and residential settings.As well asspecialist occupational therapyassessments andservicesto older adult consumers and their carers who are receiving treatment from the Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Service at St Vincent’s Melbourne.
They willparticipatein service delivery withinthe multidisciplinary team, usingaStrengths-Focused, Recovery-Orientatedframework.The Occupational Therapist will provide Occupational Therapy assessment, interventions and groups to consumers and carers.The primary work location will bewithAgedpsychiatry Assessment and treatment team;with consultation and sessional work across the Older Adults Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.
The position includes a defined case managementcomponent, with a caseload ofapproximately 15–20 consumers (pro rata). The role is structured as 0.8 EFT case management and 0.2 EFT discipline-specific (Occupational Therapy) duties, including leading assessments and delivering occupational therapy services across RSP, APATT, and the Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.
TheOccupational Therapistwill contribute to the development of the workforce through supporting early careers clinicians, contributing to the wider health servicepriorities,participatingin the Occupational Therapy team and through supporting student placements.
Classifications for this position will range from Occupational Therapist Grade 3
YB24 - YB27 ($92,944 - $106,834 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy
Registration with AHPRA
Minimum of at least2yearspost qualificationclinical experiencewith older adultsincludingexperience in the provision ofOccupationalTherapy assessmentand care planning,facilitatinggroups,programsand interventionsfor consumers with a serious mental illness and complex needs and theircarers.
Strong understanding of evidenced based practice and models of Occupational Therapy (including the Model of Human Occupation) and their application in clinical practice.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in the areas ofOccupationalTherapy and mental health.
Strong understanding and experience in implementing of sensory modulation theory and intervention.
Knowledge of the specific assessments including the MOHO Assessments and Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS).
Current Victorian Driver’s License and able to drive St Vincent’s vehicles
Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
