Location: Hollywood, Florida
Memorial Rehabilitation Institute offers specialized care including treatment for complex multiple trauma, stroke, brain injury, physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is at Memorial Regional Hospital South, outpatient care at five locations, home health care and long-term care resources available, and pediatric therapy through Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
Summary:
Provides occupational therapy services to patients who require development, recovery, or maintenance of occupational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and delegate care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians in compliance with licensing laws, state regulations, and practice standards.
- Mentor peers and students.
- Design and implement appropriate plans of care involving healthcare team and patient/family.
- Plan or assist with patient discharge from therapy.
- Perform and document initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition, including treatment type and frequency.
- Educate and counsel patients and families on treatment plans, progress, adaptive equipment, and support resources.

Education and Certifications:
Accredited Occupational Therapy program required; BLS American Heart Association certification; Occupational Therapy License for State of Florida.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, lifting/carrying patients and equipment, pushing/pulling, repetitive movement, running, sitting, squatting, standing, walking, and verbal communication required.
- Exposure to biohazards, biological hazards, communicable diseases, chemicals, dust, vapors/fumes, domestic animals, fire risk, heating devices, magnetic fields, needles/sharp objects, and wet or slippery surfaces.
- No exposure to asbestos, hazardous noise, hypoxia, radiation, sudden decompression, unprotected heights, potential electric shock or physical assault hazards.
Shift: Primarily day shifts for office workers, no shift differential.
