Oversees the daily registration functions within Patient Access scope of work. Ensures the operational unit is staffed appropriately. Promotes a positive patient experience for patients and families. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills when interacting with staff, patients, families, and leadership. Supervises efficient and compliant registration processes ensuring regulatory and compliance requirements including adherence to departmental and institutional protocols. Prioritizes responsibilities to complete daily work requirements, resolves departmental and patient problems as needed and monitors key performance metrics to ensure goals are achieved.
Job Description
Knowledge of patient registration, third-party insurance coverage including managed care plans, benefits, authorizations/referrals and coverage requirements. Proficient with Computer and Microsoft Office skills and familiar with healthcare EHR applications i.e. EPIC, Cerner. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Requires the use of problem solving and decision-making skills in a variety of complex situations. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Strong quality assurance and critical thinking skills are necessary for this role.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Associates degree in healthcare or business administration required or in lieu of degree a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a physician office/practice, hospital setting, healthcare insurance provider or other healthcare relevant experience. Minimum of 2 years of patient registration experience required. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a physician practice or hospital environment, healthcare insurance provider or other healthcare relevant experience required.
