Muon Space is revolutionizing Earth intelligence with our mission-optimized satellite constellations and vertically integrated Halo platform. As we scale from $100M+ in committed contracts to become the leader in Space Systems, we need a strategic Pricing Desk Lead to architect pricing strategies that reflect the value of our solution while driving profitable growth across government and commercial markets.
About the Role
As Pricing Desk Lead, you'll establish and lead Muon Space's pricing function during a pivotal growth phase. You'll work at the intersection of cutting-edge satellite technology, complex government contracting, and rapidly evolving commercial markets. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution as you build pricing capabilities that support our unique position as a premium provider of mission-optimized satellite constellations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Pricing Leadership
- Develop and implement pricing strategies for Muon's end-to-end constellation services, from satellite design/build to data delivery.
- Create differentiated pricing models that capture the value of our scientific-grade measurements versus commodity Earth observation data.
- Lead pricing strategy for our Halo platform across different customer segments.
- Design subscription and usage-based pricing models for our Mission Operations and Data offerings.
Government Contract Excellence
- Lead pricing for major government opportunities including DoD/IC contracts.
- Experience with major government FFP contracting & cost volumes.
Commercial Market Innovation
- Develop tiered pricing strategies that scale from proof-of-concept missions to full constellation deployments.
Financial Modeling & Analysis
- Build sophisticated cost models for 200kg-500kg satellite configurations and constellation economics.
- Develop unit economics models that balance our vertically integrated manufacturing with mission customization.
- Create pricing tools that enable rapid quotes for custom satellite missions while maintaining target margins and optimizing cash flow.
- Analyze price elasticity and optimize pricing across our portfolio of services.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with mission architects, mission engineering and other teams to understand cost drivers for our modular MuSat platform and custom payload integrations.
- Work with finance on revenue recognition for multi-year constellation contracts.
- Support Business Development with deal structuring, custom pricing approvals, and negotiation strategies.
- Partner with finance on structured financing options to support sales.
Team Building & Operations
- Build and lead a pricing function as we scale from startup to industry leader.
- Establish pricing governance, approval processes, and deal desk operations.
- Implement pricing analytics tools and competitive intelligence systems.
- Develop pricing playbooks for different customer segments and mission types.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 7-10 years of pricing, business development, or financial analysis experience.
- 3+ years in aerospace, defense, or satellite industry required.
- Proven track record of pricing complex technical products/services.
- Experience with both government contracting and commercial B2B pricing.
- History of building pricing functions in high-growth technology companies.
Technical Skills
- Expert-level financial modeling capabilities (Excel, Python/R preferred).
- Deep understanding of government contracting vehicles and compliance requirements.
- Experience with satellite industry economics and constellation business models.
- Proficiency with pricing analytics tools and CRM systems.
- Knowledge of export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).
Domain Expertise
- Familiarity with satellite technology, orbital mechanics, and space industry trends.
- Knowledge of climate tech, environmental monitoring, or geospatial analytics markets.
- Experience with Space-as-a-Service or Platform-as-a-Service business models.
Leadership Capabilities
- Strategic thinking with ability to execute hands-on in startup environment.
- Excellent communication skills for executive presentations and customer negotiations.
- Cross-functional collaboration skills to work with technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in business, economics, or technical field.
- Experience at leading NewSpace companies (SpaceX, Planet Labs, Rocket Lab).
- Background in management consulting with aerospace/defense focus.
- Security clearance or ability to obtain.
- Experience with scientific instrumentation or Earth science applications.
- Knowledge of wildfire management, climate monitoring, or agricultural technology markets.
Salary
The salary range for this role is $168,000 - $204,000 and will depend on a candidate's skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
