Eaton's IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Product Engineer.
What you'll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for executing assigned engineering projects and delivering defined scope elements within established timelines. Investigates technical issues, develops solutions, and coordinates with cross-functional teams to support NPI, sustaining, and qualification activities. Provides technical input to support decision-making and may lead small-scale projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supports product development (NPI) and sustaining projects by executing low to medium complexity engineering tasks aligned with program and business objectives
Owns assigned ACES deliverables within the PROLaunch process and ensures readiness for gate reviewsDevelops and releases conceptual and detailed 3D CAD designs and drawings (e.g., SolidWorks) for connectors and cable assembliesApplies engineering fundamentals, GD&T, and drawing standards to ensure robust, repeatable, and compliant designsManages design documentation and engineering changes within PLM systems (ENOVIA), including Change Requests and Change Orders (CR/CO)Supports material changes, supplier-related updates, and cross-functional coordination with supply chain to evaluate and implement product or process modificationsSupports and owns defined portions of testing, validation, and qualification activities across regulatory, industry, military, and customer requirements, ensuring proper documentation and traceabilityLeads or contributes to failure investigations, root cause analysis (RCCA), and corrective action activities, and supports non-conformance-related processesSupports quality and compliance activities including MRB, NOE, FAIR documentation, inspections, and related technical assessmentsCoordinates prototype builds and supports product transfer to manufacturing, including transfer of design authorityEnsures designs comply with applicable aerospace and industrial standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirementsProvides technical support and recommendations, participates in customer interactions, reports project status to stakeholders, and prepares technical documentation and presentations#LI-KL1
Qualifications:SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
• Working knowledge of GD&T fundamentals and engineering drawing standards
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) for part and assembly designFamiliarity with PLM systems (e.g., ENOVIA) and engineering change processes (CR/CO)Basic understanding of product qualification, validation, and certification requirements (e.g., UL, aerospace standards)Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (DFSS, DMAIC, or 8D)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent.Minimum 3 years of mechanical/Electrical product design experience.POSITION CRITERIA
• Moderate product design ability (Both new product & product modification)
Has deeper understanding of drawing standards with beginning GD&T applicationProficiency in 3D CAD tools for part and assembly modeling and drawing development following standard practicesModerate knowledge in engineering report and specification writingAbility to make recommendations on product designs, influence product costs, and capital investments.Participate in technical discussions and presentations for internal and external customers, including design reviews, non-advocate reviews and technical coordination meetings.Thorough knowledge of product applications, product design techniques, engineering processes, and engineering standards.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in mechanical/electrical product design within an Aerospace or industrial environment
Experience in the design and development of connectors, cable assemblies, or similar electromechanical productsExperience with PLM systems (e.g., ENOVIA) for BOM management and engineering change processes (CR/CO)Experience using 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) for part and assembly designFamiliarity with GD&T fundamentals and engineering drawing standardsExposure to product qualification, validation, and certification activities (e.g., UL, customer specifications)Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DFSS, DMAIC, or 8D)Experience working in cross-functional environments (manufacturing, quality, supply chain)Skills:Candidate will have:
