Program Manager II (Technical Operations)
About the role and team
The Program Manager, Tech leads complex programs that bridge technical vision and operational execution. This role focuses on the \"how\" of technical delivery-scaling systems like AI/ML human-in-the-loop workflows or global supply chains by navigating high-ambiguity environments and maintaining disciplined operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Program Orchestration: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of technical programs, focusing on strategic scoping, stakeholder alignment, and operational execution.
- Operational Design: Develop and implement scalable data pipelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance technical velocity and quality.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Engineering, Product, and Data Science to resolve operational blockers and ensure seamless milestone delivery.
- Governance & Risk: Oversee global vendor performance and identify systemic process gaps, driving continuous improvement in program capability.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in program management, technical operations, or data-driven project management.
- Proficiency in SQL and data analysis (e.g., Excel/Google Sheets) to conduct root-cause analysis and justify program spend.
- Documented experience independently leading the full lifecycle of at least two large-scale technical initiatives from inception to deployment.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field (or 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
- Proven ability to resolve scope misalignments and dependencies across cross-functional workstreams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Experience in AI/ML operations, autonomous systems, or global localization.
- Experience building automated dashboards or feedback loops to measure team effectiveness.
- Aptitude for deconstructing complex problems and making data-driven decisions in high-ambiguity, fast-paced environments.
- Ability to work across global time zones and perform stationary, screen-based tasks for extended periods.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $135,000 per year - USD $150,000 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $122,000 per year - USD $135,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
