Title: Project Support Officer

The Land Systems Division in Melbourne is seeking a Project Support Officer (PSO) to join the Armoured Fighter Vehicle (AFV) Branch.
As a PSO, you will support project delivery teams by providing governance, reporting, planning, and coordination services within Defence's Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), helping execute complex acquisition and sustainment projects vital to the Australian Army's warfighting capability.
Applicants must hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance or higher.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and monitoring activities across multiple work streams.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, registers, minutes, briefs, and governance packs.
- Support risk, issue, and change management processes.
- Assist with procurement and contract management, tracking deliverables and vendor performance.
- Compile project status reports and assist in schedule and cost analysis for decision making.
- Support stakeholder engagement across Defence, industry partners, and internal project teams.
- Provide day-to-day coordination support to project managers and engineering leads.
Candidate Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years experience in project support, coordination, or project management services; Defence or large-scale engineering projects experience is desirable.
- Strong planning, organisation, and document/report preparation skills.
- Familiarity with project management frameworks such as MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK or Defence project processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera) is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Current NV1 Defence Security Clearance (mandatory).
