The Rad Tech II is responsible for operating imaging equipment to perform procedures to a specified patient population. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Performs quality radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety methods. Determines technical and positioning factors to obtain quality images while minimizing radiation exposure and maintaining ALARA guidelines.
- Makes patient care related judgments and implements appropriate actions within legal, professional, and ethical standards.
- Explains procedures to patients and addresses their questions or concerns.
- Observes patients for distress or difficulty and reports incidents to appropriate staff.
- Assists in the development of others through guidance and teaching. Promotes professional practice within the radiological services team.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and policies.
- Manages resources such as supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Demonstrates professional behavior and excellent customer service in all interactions.
- Performs additional assigned job functions as necessary.
Education Qualifications
- Technical Degree or Diploma in Radiology
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience as a Rad Tech
Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication and relational skills with internal and external customers.
- Clinical competencies in radiography imaging equipment and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of radiology information systems (RIS, HIS, PACS preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
- Registered Radiologic Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Supervision Provided by this Position
- No direct supervisory or lead responsibilities; may demonstrate responsibilities to others and instruct student technologists.
Physical Demands
- Physical activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Good balance and coordination required.
- Medium work exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally and/or 25 lbs frequently.
- Close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision necessary.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
