Job description:
As a Research Engineer, you will contribute to the research, design, simulation, and prototyping of advanced wireless locationing algorithms for Silicon Labs’ wireless products, with a focus on Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology. You will work in a collaborative innovation-focused environment to explore next-generation positioning technologies and develop high-quality algorithmic solutions for Global wireless IoT markets.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the research and development of advanced wireless locationing algorithms with emphasis on Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology
Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and proof-of-concept implementations for emerging wireless positioning features and technologies
Apply signal-processing, statistical modeling, and machine-learning techniques to improve ranging accuracy, robustness, and overall system performance
Explore and evaluate algorithmic approaches for real-time distance estimation, phase-based ranging, and multipath mitigation
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to help translate research concepts into scalable embedded software solutions
Provide technical contributions to wireless specifications and participate in relevant Bluetooth SIG working group activities where applicable
Document experimental findings, simulation results, and technical recommendations for internal and external stakeholders
Contribute ideas and innovations that enhance Silicon Labs’ wireless locationing technologies and future Bluetooth product capabilities
Skills/Experience:
Strong foundation in Digital Signal Processing, Statistical Signal Processing, Machine Learning, or related algorithmic domains
Demonstrated interest in applied research, experimentation, and innovation-driven development
Experience developing and evaluating algorithms through simulation, modeling, or prototyping
Proficiency in Julia, MATLAB, or Python for algorithm development and analysis
Good understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and implementation considerations for real-world deployment

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between €55,650 - €103,350 EUR. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
