RN - Observation, Jefferson

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Observation unit at Jefferson Hospital provides continued assessment, monitoring, and testing for patients after initial evaluation in the Emergency Department to determine appropriate discharge or admission. Responsibilities include leadership in clinical practice, mentoring, task delegation, promoting patient safety, participating in quality initiatives, and utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, and implement individualized patient care. The role demands commitment to continuous learning, professional development, compassionate communication, and compliance with all legal and ethical standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and mentorship in the nursing team.
• Assign and delegate tasks appropriately to nursing staff and support personnel.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams and quality improvement initiatives.
• Utilize nursing processes to assess and plan individualized patient care.
• Promote patient safety and address patient/family concerns.
• Participate in professional development and uphold hospital policies and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure in PA or multi-state through eNLC.
• CPR certification.
• Criminal background and child abuse clearances as required.
• Preferred: Specialty certification.
