Job Description
Plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients of any age in Preop/PACU department. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, including serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.
Responsibilities
- Follows employee health and personnel staffing policies.
- Adheres to OSHA standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
- Follows policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards.
- Informs Float or PACU Charge Nurse of day-to-day situations.
- Maintains current skills and knowledge in intravenous therapy, medication administration, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, and emotional/social support.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates pre and post operative nursing care based on individual patient needs and physician orders.
- Seeks anesthesia consult and assistance as needed.
Requirements
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days.
- BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- PALS must be completed within 1 year.
- Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Compensation
Estimated Pay Range: $32.10 - $49.76 per hour, based on experience.
