Security / Safety Officer FT 1st Sinai

Major Responsibilities:

• Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion in challenging circumstances while following policies and procedures.
• Performs interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety, including inspections, audits, patient valuables management, and contraband searches.
• Assists patients, visitors, and staff by providing information and physical help, controls traffic, monitors visitor conduct, and questions unauthorized persons.
• Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence and responds to service calls.
• Plans and responds to emergencies such as lost children, fire, and active threats, physically intervening as trained.
• Investigates incidents on property, prepares reports, escalates complaints as needed.
• Builds partnerships with departments, delivers security awareness education to team members.
• Coordinates with law enforcement and monitors prisoner patient guards for policy compliance.
• May precept newly hired officers to maintain competency.
• Maintains training standards in communications, de-escalation, CPR, and restraint application.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Security Officer healthcare certification (CHSO) within 2 years.
• Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license required to carry a taser.
• Valid driver's license.

Education Required:

• High School Graduate.

Experience Required:

• At least 1 year of security, public safety, or related customer service experience involving emergent situations and risk resolution.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Mature judgment, courteous and tactful demeanor even with aggressive persons.
• Ability to assess dangerous situations and act appropriately.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency for documentation.
• Flexible scheduling including off-shifts, weekends, holidays.
• Meets department training standards.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, lift up to 35 lbs., and push/pull 35 lbs.
• Work environment temperature may range from -10 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards; must wear protective clothing as necessary.
• Operates equipment necessary for the job.
• Ability to defend self and others in physical confrontations.
