Job Summary:
The Senior AI Engineer is a hands-on engineer who designs, builds, and ships AI and machine learning capabilities across Surescripts' platforms, applications, and systems. Working with product management, engineering, and design, this role turns business and customer needs into production-ready AI solutions that are valuable, usable, viable, and feasible.
The Senior AI Engineer owns the how and the by-when for the AI capabilities they build: prototyping new ideas, integrating AI into products, and making sure what ships meets performance, reliability, and responsible-AI standards. The role executes against a defined plan and handles the ambiguity that comes up along the way. Over time it contributes more broadly, explaining technical choices to non-technical partners and sharing reusable patterns with other engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, test, and deploy AI capabilities, including predictive models, generative AI, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and agentic AI, into production solutions.
- Translate the needs of their work into technical requirements and explain technical concepts back to non-technical partners.
- Work with product management, engineering, and design to fit AI capabilities into solutions that are valuable, usable, and feasible.
- Prototype and validate new AI capabilities to speed up delivery and lower technical risk.
- Build and maintain the data pipelines, model integration, LLMOps, and AgentOps practices that keep deployments reliable across their lifecycle.
- Help champion AI Trust & Safety best practices across all Product & Engineering teams: from auto-inherited controls and guardrails based on AI solution type and risk level, to automated evals and testing in CI/CD, to operational monitoring and drift detection, to issue and incident response, to rel="noopener noreferrer">Keep You and Yours Healthy, Balancing Work and Life, and Where Talent Takes Shape links under the Better Benefits.
