AtkinsRalis is seeking a Senior Designer I&C to join their Engineering group in Bothell, WA. This full-time role focuses on the technical accuracy, quality, and preparation of drawing packages related to Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) within project budget and schedule requirements. Responsibilities include layout of I&C engineering drawings, supervision of design and drafting functions, ensuring compliance with standards, and mentoring design team members. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SmartPlant software, and understanding of instrumentation, electrical design, and P&IDs is essential. The role also involves collaboration with engineers, designers, and drafters to produce project deliverables and support construction and startup personnel.
Responsibilities
- Complete layout and design of I&C related engineering drawings such as wiring diagrams, instrument installation details, and network diagrams.
- Lead and supervise a small design group to complete design packages on projects.
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications and company standards.
- Perform drafting work using AutoCAD 2D/3D and Revit as per project needs.
- Manage placement of 3D renderings in plant-wide models using SmartPlant, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and/or Revit.
- Catalog instrumentation information and perform limited engineering functions for project deliverables.
- Mentor junior design team members and maintain documentation standards.
- Review vendor and other discipline drawings for correctness.
- Provide onsite or remote instrumentation support during construction and startup.
- Maintain project files in compliance with ISO 9001 policies.
Requirements
- AA in drafting or AS degree in Instrumentation/Industrial Automation or equivalent technical education.
- Six or more years of industrial or power plant Instrument and Controls design experience.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation types, installation procedures, and drafting standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and 3D, SmartPlant Software Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs and understand electrical and electronic design principles and devices including PLC and DCS.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
