Vantage’s Global Public Policy team, a part of the Vantage Data Centers Legal organization,is responsible forthe company’s government relations, economic development, and community engagement efforts worldwide. Role Overview
TheSeniorDirector, Public Policy, APAC is the leader responsible for shaping and executing Vantage’s public policystrategy,includinggovernmentand regulatory affairs,economic development,andcommunityengagement,across the Asia Pacific region.As demand for digital infrastructure accelerates, so does public and regulatory scrutiny. This role is designed for an experienced,thoughtfulpolicy leader who canoperatewith significant autonomyin a high-growthbusiness within a complex regulatory environmentwhileremainingaligned to a global public policy strategyandoperatingfully compliant with relevant laws and company policies. TheSeniorDirector willalso build andleada teamofregional and functionalpublic policy professionalsdedicated to and responsible forengagement in Vantage’s APACandregionalHQmarkets—including Australia, Japan, Malaysia,and Singapore,withadditionalmarkets expected to come over time.
Theidealcandidatefor this rolewillhavedemonstrated experience successfullynavigatingcomplex regulatory environments, managingpolitical and reputational risk, and helpingpositiontheir previousorganizationsas credible,solutions‑oriented participantsinpublicpolicy discussionswith governmentsand other important stakeholders, especiallyon issuesrelated to energy, sustainability, land use, data governance, and digital infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
Define and execute a cohesiveAPACpublic policy strategy aligned with Vantage’s businessobjectivesand global public policy strategyacross the asset lifecycle.
Anticipate and assess emerging political, regulatory, and reputational risks, translating them into clear priorities and action plans.
Serve as atrustedpolicy advisor toVantage APAC’sexecutive leadership, providing clear, actionable, and candid counsel on complex policy tradeoffs.
Ensure consistent positioning acrossgovernment and publicengagements.
Build, lead, andretaina high‑performing public policy team with clear roles, expectations, and accountability.
Set a leadership standard that emphasizesbias for action,ownership, good judgment,delivery of results,follow‑through, collaboration, and professional growth.
Establish operating rhythms, decision frameworks, and performance metrics that enable the team to scale effectively and with accountability.
Essential Job Functions
Leadengagement withgovernmentofficials, regulators, economic developers, and communitiesin key Vantage APAC markets.
Guideengagement with trade associations, coalitions, and third‑party advocates to ensure alignment with Vantage priorities.
RepresentVantage as a credible, constructive, andsolutions‑oriented partner in relevant policy discussions affecting digital infrastructure issues.
Partner closely with internal stakeholders acrossLegal;Business Development; New Site Development; Construction; Marketing; Sustainability; Environment, Health, and Safety; Finance; Operations; Product; other departments as needed; and theAPACLeadership Team.
Work in collaboration with relevant teams to shape, align, and execute external narratives related to public policy, sustainability, and development — ensuring consistency across government, media, community, and customer audiences.
Ensure public policy considerations are integrated early into go-to-market, site selection, energy procurement, sustainability, communications, design,security,and community engagement strategies.
Become familiar with andoperatein compliance with relevant anti-corruptionand anti-collusionlaws, andestablish frameworks to ensurecompliance with these laws forVantage’s public policy activitiesin APAC.
Model and reinforce Vantage’s values of trust, accountability, respect, and agility.
Translate policy developments into clear implications and actions for business teams.
Foster a team culture that balances urgency with judgment, and advocacy with credibility.
Support responsible growth by aligning policy engagement with community expectations and sustainability goals.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experiencerequired;graduate degree or equivalent preferred.
10+ years of progressive hands-on experience in public policy, especially corporate government relations, inAsia-Pacificand across multiple markets. Familiarity with digital infrastructure issues, especially energy and land use,preferred.
Demonstrated success leading and scaling high-performance teams,including managing and developingprofessionalsand delivering results.
Reputation as a trusted, credible, humble, and principledprofessional andteam leader.
Proven ability to set and implement successful advocacy strategies, prioritize effectively, and drive executionthrough othersacrossdifferent regional and functional areas.
Deep experience engaging directly with policymakers atall levels of governmentacrossAsia Pacific.
Background in capital-intensive, regulated, or infrastructure-heavy sectors such as energy, technology, telecom, real estate, and transportation. Preferred experienceoperatingin high-growth or rapidly-scaling organizations.
Strong understanding of legislative, regulatory, andstakeholderprocessesin Asia-Pacific.
Experience in managing budgets and relationships with third parties including consultants and trade associations.
Knowledge of lobbying ethics andanti-corruption laws, and experienceoperatingin compliance with applicable laws.
Fluency in Englishwithexceptional written and verbal communications skills, including briefing executives, policymakers, and public speaking. Media training and interview experience, and fluency in anotherlanguage usedpredominately inAsia-Pacific,ispreferred.
High degree of political acumen, calculated risk taking, and sound judgmentrequired.
Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, manage risk, and maketimelyand good ethical decisions under pressureindependently and as part of a team.
Comfortable with international travelto attendvariousinternal and external meetings asrequired.
