Hybrid: Reporting to a specific location where work needs to be performed / collaboration should happen (regardless of where a candidate lives). Some employees may work hybrid if living more than 50 miles away but business needs dictate onsite presence three days per week.

Building the best infotainment experience for GM vehicles involves a hardware engineering team owning end-to-end design and development of vehicle display hardware.
Senior Hardware Design Engineer – Display Development will lead technical design and development of new display electronics hardware for next-generation GM vehicles. Requires experience in automotive ECU architecture, design, analysis, and successful infotainment hardware production launches.
Responsibilities
- Design LCD/OLED display electrical hardware: MCU, TCON, SERDES, component selection, schematic capture, worst case analysis, PCB layout, bring-up, debug, signal and power integrity (SI/PI), design verification testing (environmental and EMC), manufacturing support, and production launch.
- Develop display hardware platform from concept to launch while meeting cost, timing, quality, and safety targets.
- Understand display backlight unit and FOG interfacing with electrical hardware.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams for seamless electrical design integration.
- Work with contract manufacturers ensuring quality, cost, and timing targets from prototype to mass production.
- Perform electrical schematic design and PCB layout.
- Support new IC design/development strategic to display designs.
- Execute detailed hardware analysis including worst case, signal integrity, power integrity.
- Lead bring-up of hardware design from power supplies, SoCs, MCUs, SerDes interfaces, network devices.
- Lead design for manufacturing (DFM), assembly (DFA), and testing (DFT).
- Drive hardware validation and testing for reliability and performance.
- Establish test plans and protocols to validate designs.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, root cause analysis, and solutions development.
- Support manufacturing in resolving production issues.
- Conduct design reviews and provide feedback.
- Lead/support DFMEA/PFMEA of display hardware ensuring best practices.
- Provide guidance to Design Release Engineers (DREs).
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer Engineering or equivalent; Master's preferred.
- 5+ years experience in electronic hardware design, focused on display and automotive electronics.
- Proven track record launching display build-to-print hardware into production.
- Experience designing display hardware/components like MCUs, TCON, GMSL, FPD-Link, power supplies.
- Strong skills in circuit design, schematic creation, PCB layout, SI/PI, power management.
- Experience with design and analysis tools: Mentor Graphics, Ansys, Simplis, Altair, Mathcad, PSpice, Saber.
- Knowledge of requirements engineering (FMEA, hazard analyses), verification/validation processes.
- Familiarity with embedded software development and testing.
- Understanding of hardware design failures.
- Knowledge of design development, test engineering, manufacturing/assembly operations, engineering processes.
- Experience with DFM, DFA, DFT.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, communication skills.
- Proven leadership of complex projects in fast-paced environments.
Compensation
- Salary range: $131,000 to $202,000 base annually, variable based on candidate factors.
- Bonus potential based on company, job level, individual performance.
