About the Role/Team:
WEX is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Manager to lead our bank's Credit Strategy and Policy framework and oversee all aspects of our Factoring Credit Underwriting operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Credit Officer (CCO), this pivotal role is instrumental in advancing the bank's factoring risk capabilities, optimizing credit processes, and driving operational excellence.
You will provide essential leadership and performance oversight to a team of underwriters, shaping the bank's risk appetite and ensuring the health of our commercial portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our credit risk function at an enterprise level.
Location Requirements: This is a US Remote position. The ideal candidate will be based in Midvale, Utah, but highly qualified candidates in Dallas, TX; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Seattle, WA; and Portland, ME will also be considered.
What Youll Do:
Factoring Credit Management & Leadership:
- Spearhead the daily operations of the factoring credit team, optimizing resource planning and workload distribution to ensure peak performance.
- Proactively monitor the health of the factoring portfolio through analysis of key risk indicators including charge-offs, delinquencies, and exception trends.
- Establish and report on team productivity metrics, underwriting consistency, and decision quality to senior leadership.
- Ensure all factoring credit activities adhere strictly to Board-approved policies and regulatory standards.
- Forge strong partnerships with business development teams to support sustainable portfolio growth while mitigating risk.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team, fostering consistent application of credit policy, sound decision-making, and continuous professional growth.
Enterprise Credit Strategy & Policy:
- Architect and govern the bank's credit risk policies across all products and business lines, ensuring they are robust, well-documented, and aligned with strategic objectives.
- Drive design and implementation of credit policy changes for new product launches and evolving risk appetite.
- Act as subject matter expert on credit policy, providing guidance and training across the organization.
- Conduct analysis of macroeconomic trends and portfolio performance to identify emerging credit risks and recommend adjustments.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on policy updates and credit trends to senior stakeholders.
What Youll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; extensive experience will be considered.
- 10+ years progressive experience in Factoring, Commercial Credit Risk, or Underwriting.
- 5+ years direct people management experience leading credit or operational teams.
- 5+ years dedicated experience in Credit Risk Analysis and Policy Management.
Knowledge & Abilities:
- Expertise in factoring, commercial lending products, credit systems, and risk management frameworks.
- Experience developing and implementing credit policies, portfolio analysis, and managing KPIs.
- Strong understanding of banking laws, credit regulations, and operational risk factors.
- Ability to exercise independent risk judgment and build collaborative partnerships.
- Experience using credit data from vendors such as D&B, Equifax, and Experian.
Technical & Interpersonal Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), G-Suite, and Windows OS.
- Preferred experience with PeopleSoft, Cadence/ProfitStars, Moodys, Tableau, or SAS.
- Exceptional communication skills in complex and high-stakes situations.
Leadership:
- Proven ability to build influential relationships with senior leaders, peers, clients, and vendors.
The base pay range is $102,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually. Compensation will vary based on qualifications, skills, and role proficiency. Additional benefits include health, dental, vision insurances, retirement savings, paid time off, and more.
