Why We Hire
With the further expansion of Rakuten Group's BtoC businesses and our vision for future service scalability, we are planning a large-scale system replacement project, including our core systems.
At this pivotal turning point, we are looking for a Senior Manager who can lead our system and service improvements, as well as the strengthening of our development organization, while working in close collaboration with our business stakeholders.
Position Details
You will serve as a Senior Manager for a development organization of approximately 50 members, including Product Managers and Engineers.
About the Organization
Full-cycle development, maintenance, and operations of systems related to specific Rakuten First-Party servicesDriving business growth by collaborating with business units on service improvements, new feature development, and data analysisKey Responsibilities
1) Stakeholder Management
Building consensus with business leaders, department heads, and executivesCollaborating and partnering closely with Tech LeadsFacilitating cross-functional cooperation and contributing to development organizations across other Rakuten servicesReporting on critical projects and managing communication during system incidents2) Organizational Management
Organizational Growth: Mentoring team members, improving development processes, and formulating organizational strategyBudgeting and cost managementImproving employee engagementEnhancing organizational productivityOverseeing overall organizational operationsMandatory Qualifications:
Organizational Management Experience
Proven experience in managing development organizations with several dozen members or moreExperience in leading and unifying diverse teams with various professional backgroundsProven track record of building consensus with executive leadership and business stakeholders regarding development priorities and resource allocationProduct Management Experience
Over 10 years of hands-on experience as a Product Manager (PDM) for large-scale servicesExtensive experience leading the full product lifecycle, from roadmap formulation and release to post-launch KPI optimizationCommunication and Leadership Skills
Ability to thrive in Rakuten’s fast-paced environment and navigate complex stakeholder relationships to drive progress through cross-functional collaborationAbility to partner closely with Tech Leads to balance business requirements with technical constraints effectivelyStrong leadership skills to inspire team members, boost motivation, and maximize overall organizational performanceProficiency in both Japanese and English for professional communicationDesired Qualifications:
Experience in project managementExtensive experience in the development and operation of complex, large-scale systemsKnowledge and experience with core business systems, such as Order Management Systems (OMS)In-depth knowledge and experience in the EC and BtoC service sectorsOther Information:
