Senior Manager, Market Access, Pricing & Government Affairs will report to the Director, Market Access, Pricing & Government Affairs. The role includes negotiating drug prices with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) and managing preparation for those negotiations; contributing to drug development and commercialization from a pricing strategy perspective; forecasting prices for both marketed and pipeline products; monitoring and sharing updates on pharmaceutical policy within the company, and developing and implementing strategies in response to government actions; as well as participating in industry association activities.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead drug pricing negotiation with the MHLW for both new products and marketed products, and manage preparation for the negotiation
Participate in clinical development planning and commercial strategy discussions and provide input from a pricing strategy perspective.
Develop future price forecasts for both upcoming and currently marketed products and formulate strategies to maintain more favorable pricing over time.
Collect the latest information on government developments and key policy movements, and formulate appropriate countermeasures. Share information about critical policy developments affecting Market Access & Pricing and provide input to internal stakeholders with those that require strategic attention.
Engage in external industry activities representing Genmab to collect insights through networking, as well as to contribute to developing industry position.
Requirements - what you must have
Experience
Leading drug pricing negotiations with the MHLW for new pharmaceutical products is required
Negotiating products in the oncology and/or hematology fields is preferred.
Participating in HTA (Health Technology Assessment) / cost-effectiveness evaluation processes with the MHLW and C2H (Center for Outcomes Research and Economic Evaluation for Health) is preferred.
Developing and maintaining pricing assumptions and forecasts for marketed and pipeline products in collaboration with other departments (e.g., Development, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial functions) is required.
Working in a multinational company is preferred.
Skills/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant fields; Pharmacy, Medicine, Biotechnology, or a related field preferred.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong expertise in Japanese National Health Insurance drug pricing rules and reimbursement system
Strong knowledge of the Japanese healthcare system and pharmaceutical industry
Understanding of pharmacy, medicine, and biotechnology.
Experience in related functions such as Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, Marketing, Market Research, Medical or Finance is a plus.
Native-level Japanese proficiency, including excellent written and verbal communication skills, is required.
Working proficiency in English and the ability to collaborate with global stakeholders are preferred
