Senior Project Manager, Economic Mobility

Position Overview: The Senior Project Manager (SPM) of Economic Mobility is an exciting opportunity for a business- and equity-minded, highly collaborative individual to help advance NYCEDCs economic mobility initiative. As part of the Equity and Community Impact Division, the SPM will support the development and management of relationships and partnerships with businesses, workforce development providers, CBOs, and academia to advance NYCEDCs priorities across verticals. These include urban planning and community development, real asset management, and industry growth (e.g., tech, green economy, creative, life sciences, etc.).

While the SPM will engage with a diverse set of stakeholders, topic areas, and project types, their primary area of focus will be advancing economic justice-informed, citywide and place-based workforce development initiatives. The SPM will support the execution of the portfolio of projects currently underway, as well as work collaboratively to identify additional opportunities to connect EDCs programming and industry initiatives with both local and citywide workforce development needs. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the workforce development sector (e.g., the latest trends, key actors, etc.) and a commitment to advancing economic justice by expanding access to quality jobs, strengthening worker voice, and building pathways to family-sustaining careers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Development

• Build relationships with workforce development service providers and other community-based organizations to create awareness of EDC programs and initiatives and identify mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities.

Program Management

• Maintain project management plans, outlines, and schedules.
• Collaborate on the implementation of the organizations economic mobility planning, citywide and placed-based strategy, and engagement efforts in key cross-departmental projects.
• Support and enhance team processes, documentation, and best practices for program management.
• Represent the department in interdepartmental working groups and collaborate effectively in cross-functional initiatives

Research

• Conduct primary and secondary quantitative and qualitative research to develop >Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree and 3+ years of relevant experience in workforce development, project management, and partnership creation.
• Expertise in equitable economic development and/or economic justice is preferred.
• Demonstrated communication skills, including verbal, written (e.g., newsletters, social media posts, reports, white papers, website language, etc.), presentation and public speaking skills, with experience tailoring messages for diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external partners, enabling effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with a track record of delivering complex initiatives under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated quantitative skills a plus (e.g., research analysis and interpretation of complex datasets to inform decision-making).
• Experience in strategy, management consulting, public policy, public service, social enterprise, and/or innovation is a plus.
• New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire.
