SENIORRESEARCHER(Research & Development –MobilityOperation Optimization)

Position Overview

TheSeniorResearcheris responsible forconducting research that addresses customer challenges, as well as creating advanced technologies,andsolutions related to railway operation optimization.

This role contributes to Hitachi’s strategic, financial, and operationalobjectivesby driving innovation in railway operations, enhancing service reliability and efficiency, and translating research outcomes into practical, customer-ready solutions. The position requires close collaboration with global research teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners across themobilityvalue chain.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct research activities and develop advanced technologies and solutions formobility and transportationoptimization.

• Manageand executetheproduct life cycle fromcapturingcustomer requirements,developingsolution prototypes,conductingProof of Concept (PoC)activitiesanddemonstratingvalue through real-world applications.

• Preparetechnical reports, presentation materials, andproposal documentsfor internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with global research teams, and other internal and external parties to develop and deliver integrated solutions.

• Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across R&D teams.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or PhD.

• Background in transport related disciplineswithexpertisein ComputerScience,Engineering, and DataScience.

Experience

• Minimum5yearsof relevant working experience in railway operation optimization.

• Working experience insoftware developmentdesign and customer-facing activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong hands-on capability insimulation,operation optimization, and digital twin technologies.

• Knowledge of AI / Machine Learning, data analytics, andproficiencyin programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, andAnyLogic.

• Strong communicationskills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
