About the Role
Senior Material Planners act with high levels of agency and urgency and are always looking for opportunities to automate and optimize processes and data flows. You will be integrated with a cross functional team and are responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely procurement of materials to support production schedules, while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing costs. You will typically be responsible for material planning our most challenging programs as well as mentoring junior members of the team. Senior Material Planners should be extremely familiar with engineering, procurement, and production workflows as well as the end-to-end IT Architecture that supports those processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and engineering, to align material planning with production schedules and project requirements.
- Identify and lead projects to enhance our systems and processes.
- Utilize ERP, MRP, Excel, and SQL to manage and analyze material requirements, inventory levels, and procurement activities.
- Monitor and analyze material usage, lead times, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
- Prepare and present reports on material planning and inventory performance to management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material planning processes and systems.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior material planners and other team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +6yrs experience).
- Typically 8+ years of related experience.
- Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing and implementing demand scheduling tools.
- Highly skilled with ERP, MRP, Excel, SQL.
- Material Planning experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Aerospace or Automotive.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced certifications in supply chain management or material planning (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP).
- Advanced degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, or CIS.
- Significant SAP experience.
- Experience using Python, R, PowerBI, Tableau.
Additional Information:
Pay Range: $107,470 - $147,785 annually. Actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
Work conditions include some walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs, repetitive hand motions, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs., rarely exposed to outdoor elements, fumes, hazardous chemicals, or loud noises.
