Job Description
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Comcast Business Public Sector IT team, you will design, develop, and support secure and resilient applications and systems across the full software development lifecycle. This includes architecture, integration, deployment, and support of a new IT ecosystem. The role requires hands-on expertise with integration technologies such as MuleSoft, Kafka, and Spark, leadership in initiatives, and mentoring of junior engineers. The position is based in Philadelphia Headquarters and requires US Citizenship.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather technical and business requirements.
- Design and develop new software and web applications; customize and enhance existing systems.
- Lead integration efforts using tools like MuleSoft, Kafka, and Spark.
- Support application rollouts and deployment processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
- Document development work, technical requirements, and architecture.
- Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and scalability.
- Stay current with technology trends and evaluate new innovations.
- Partner with QA teams for validation of applications.
- Exercise independent judgment in addressing complex technical challenges.
Skills & Requirements
- College degree in business or technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years hands-on MuleSoft experience as a solution designer or subject matter expert.
- Proficiency with Oracle, Java, Web Services, middleware platforms.
- Experience with SQL, programming languages (C++, Perl, PL/SQL, JavaScript).
- Expertise with Kafka, Kinesis, Kibana, and Spark.
- Unix debugging skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Public Sector Requirements
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to pass Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) or other necessary clearances.
