The Stores Executive Leadership Internship at Target is a paid, hands-on training program designed to develop and prepare interns for store leadership roles, specifically mimicking the duties of an Executive Team Leader (Assistant Store Manager). This 40-hour/week internship provides a realistic preview of retail management, including guest service, team leadership, operational performance, and business fundamentals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate store team members on the sales floor and in the backroom, aligning the team on daily business priorities.
- Work closely with Executive Team Lead mentors and other store leaders to understand management roles and responsibilities.
- Drive guest experience, handle guest engagement, problem-solving, and resolution.
- Manage team performance through teaching, coaching, and providing feedback.
- Conduct daily huddles and plan daily goals and organizational plans within the store.
- Review business reporting and guest insights to identify and act on opportunities.
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and secure culture, ensuring safety compliance and ethical conduct.
- Take initiative in personal leadership development and participate in training activities.
- Handle tasks like stocking shelves, building displays, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Engage with guests warmly, assist with their needs, and ensure a positive shopping experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Preferred prior retail experience but not required.
