Job Summary
The Nursing Supervisor provides general and technical supervision of all nursing service personnel. Plans, develops and organizes various nursing service activities in the clinic, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality Healthcare. Provides direct patient care. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates ongoing growth and development of self through active self-reflection, personal competency development strategies, and role modeling leadership competencies.
Essential Functions:
- Assist leadership by managing and supervising nursing personnel, promoting a positive, professional attitude and high quality of care.
- Responsible for hiring and developing nursing staff.
- Complete performance appraisals as delegated.
- Evaluate quality and quantity of nursing care; recommend changes and programs to the Director.
- Serve as a resource person for nursing staff, ancillary personnel, and community.
- Respond timely to variance and incident reports.
- Direct the Performance Improvement program and seek continuous improvement in patient care.
- Ensure complete and accurate patient care documentation.
- Maintain supplies and equipment according to established practices.
- Assist with day-to-day nursing unit operations to promote quality service delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
- Required education: Bachelors degree in Nursing (Rapid City/Magnet Certified or pursuing); all other markets require Bachelor's degree in Nursing by a set timeframe.
- Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) license for South Dakota or Wyoming as applicable; chemotherapy certification for Cancer Care Infusion positions within one year of hire.
- Preferred experience: 1+ years supervisor experience; 3+ years RN experience; for Cancer Care Infusion, 1+ years oncology nursing experience.
Physical Requirements: Very heavy work requiring exertion over 25 pounds frequently, possible exposure to radiation and infectious substances, ability to work flexible shifts including nights and irregular hours.
