Responsible for data gathering and tracking of all blood inventory and usage as well as quality analysis tracking as mandated by regulatory agencies. Assists with utilization review and blood administration education and auditing. Observes and critique of blood transfusion processes on the nursing floor. Provides utilization reports and feedback to upper management. Utilizes feedback on observations of blood transfusions that will be created and provided to Clinical Directors and nursing educators for continuing education. A Brief Overview

What you will do
- Conduct audits and report findings to the appropriate individuals in a timely fashion.
- Produce data/dashboards for Quality initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and compliance activities.
- Effectively manage resources such as productivity, supplies, equipment. Plan work and complete job responsibilities efficiently and productively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science
Experience Qualifications
- 3-5 years hospital setting experience with working knowledge of transfusion medicine and processes for candidates with RN License.
- 5-7 years transfusion medicine experience for candidates with Medical Technologist license.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques central to Nursing or Transfusion Medicine.
- Working knowledge of lab procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, mainly Excel and Minitab.
- Ability to communicate complex technical material to physicians, other clinical associates, patients, and families both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to plan, schedule tasks and projects, and maintain control of own workflow by prioritizing.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to assist in quality control and education.
Licenses and Certifications
- TN - Medical Technologist (MT) - Tennessee Department of Health - Medical Laboratory Board
- Registered Nurse Arkansas - Arkansas State Board of Nursing
- Registered Nurse Mississippi - Mississippi Board of Nursing
- Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing

Physical Demands

- Must have good balance and coordination.
- Medium work exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs frequently.
- Close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision needed for tasks such as assessing patients and data analysis.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
