Windows Desktop Engineer Role Overview:
At GDIT, advance your career and impact enterprise IT by providing advanced technical support and system maintenance for Windows desktop environments at a Top Secret SCI + Poly level clearance. Collaborate with IT teams and assist in troubleshooting, incident management, and documentation while supporting end-users and training junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 3 support for Windows desktop issues escalated from Tier 1 and Tier 2.
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software problems.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
- Maintain system stability, security, and performance through patches and updates.
- Manage high-priority incidents and contribute to problem management and documentation.
- Collaborate on IT projects and assist with technology implementation.
- Provide user support, training, and guidance to junior support staff.
- Maintain documentation and generate performance and incident reports.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS).
- 5+ years related experience in Windows desktop engineering.
- Proficient in Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
- Experience with system imaging and deployment tools such as SCCM and MDT.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell).
- Knowledge of ITIL framework, endpoint security, cloud integration (Microsoft Azure).
- Proficient with Active Directory, Group Policy, and network configurations.
- CompTIA Security+ certification required.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Top Secret SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
Work Environment:
- On-site position located in Annapolis Junction, MD, USA.
- Scheduled 40 hours per week.
- Potential occasional evening, weekend, and on-call support.
- Less than 10% travel required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range is approximately $110,500 to $149,500 based on experience and location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and comprehensive wellness programs.
